Associate Director - Hong Kong
Role purpose
The 3i China team is an established, experienced local team with a good track record. 3i has invested c$250m in the last 5 years and has been able to react to the market and make responsive decision. As a member of the market facing investment team, the VP may lead deals or elements of the deal process with the sponsorship of a director or partner. This role is attractive to anyone seeking to establish a platform of skills which could lead to a longer term partnership role. Responsibilities
- EVALUATING INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES THROUGH:
- analyzing key areas of risk and opportunity in prospective opportunities
- demonstrating strong commercial judgement considering a range of factors before reaching a conclusion
- articulating investment cases orally and in writing to gain internal support
- LEADING TRANSACTION EXECUTION THROUGH:
- displaying strong project management and team leadership skills
- demonstrating a structured, rigorous and commercial approach to due diligence
- coordinating deal team members and maintaining a thoughtful, orderly and thorough investment process
- managing third party advisors and external resources
- structuring deals to meet stakeholder requirements
- showing judgement in deciding and implementing tactics to win a deal
- using strong interpersonal and influencing skills to implement an agreed course of action
- CONTRIBUTING TO MARKETING AND DEAL ORIGINATION THROUGH:
- proactively identifying attractive industry segments and target opportunities
- demonstrating an ability to build and maintain a relevant external network which delivers deal opportunities
- representing and articulating the firm’s investment strategy and experience, partnership approach and tremendous resources to advisors and entrepreneurs
- building and maintaining a strong internal network to gain knowledge to improve 3i’s decision making and competitive edge
- supporting the team’s knowledge sharing, including sharing of contact knowledge and maintenance of data on core systems.
- MAKING A CONTRIBUTION TO THE LOCAL TEAM AND BROADER GROWTH CAPITAL 3I PARTNERSHIP
- promoting innovation by advancing ideas and developing ideas originated elsewhere

- MANAGING THE PORTFOLIO OF PORTFOLIO COMPANIES TO INCLUDE:
- Liaising with company management regularly
- Participating in internal biannual reviews and keeping internal accounting systems updated
