Role purpose

A leading UK-based private equity firm is seeking to recruit a Fianncial Controller for its growing Asian operations. Reporting to the regional operations director, the role is based in Singapore and is effective from 1st Novemner 2008. To ensure the provision of an accurate and on time set of accounts for 3i and satisfy Group reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Financial management and controls of region Legal Reporting & Statutory Accounting for Region’s entities
  • Ensure the Business Unit’s investment transactions are recorded on the Group’s asset accounting system (“Frameworks”)
  • Ensure all costs and income are recorded on the Group’s general ledger (“Agresso”)
  • Provide a link for the Group Finance, Tax and Treasury teams located in the UK to the Business Unit on all financial matters
  • Ensure all statutory and fiscal requirements are met within the legal jurisdictions in the Business Unit
  • Ensure all regulatory requirements are met within the legal jurisdictions in the Business Unit
  • Manage, motivate, mentor accounting staff in the region and manage outsourced functions/processes.
  • Ensure information held on the Group’s Data Warehouse for investments in the Business Unit is correct
  • Provide regular management information for the Business Unit from the 3i’s Data Warehouse or local sources (e.g. spreadsheets if in line with the Data Warehouse)
  • Prepare a financial plan and budget for the Business Unit according to the Group’s requirements
  • Prepare ad hoc financial reports and analysis as required by local management
  • Participate and contribute in asset/portfolio review meetings; liaise/manage the valuation process by working closely with the central valuations team and local investor teams
  • Assist operations director on strategic projects
  • Ensure all accounting staff’s compliance with group procedures
  • Proactively engage and build relationships with key stakeholders

Skills and competencies

Required Skills:
  • Knowledge of International Accounting Standards
  • Ability to communicate finance issues well, both verbally and in writing, to the UK and to the local business
  • Ability to see the big picture whilst being detailed oriented
