Capital-risque

“When you really believe in a company, you need to hold your nerve.  We’d just set up a syndicate to support SyChip when 9/11 struck.  Straight away it was a harsh climate for VC investment.  The syndicate fell away – but we knew the company had a first-rate team that could grow a great business.  We did everything we possibly could to rebuild the syndicate.  To be frank, we weren’t 100% sure we could do it but we kept the company afloat, and nine months later we finally put the full funding in place.” Marko Maschek, Partner, Waltham, MA

“As soon as you met the management team at CSR, you knew they had exactly the right ingredients: scientific genius, allied to powerful ambition.  This was clearly a team that was hungry for success on a big scale.  Our role was to do everything we could to help them grow - introducing contacts, sourcing talent, helping with contract negotiation.  In the end, their customer list was like a ‘who’s who’ of global electronics giants.  It was no surprise when they became this century’s first billion-dollar company in the fabless semiconductor market.” Laurence Garrett, Partner, London

Pharmetrics (USA) - Fournisseur d’informations de notices médicales à l’industrie pharmaceutique américaine
“At the time we invested in Pharmetrics, a lot of other potential investors just didn’t get it.  They couldn’t see that selling medical claims data would turn out to be big business.  But we knew that the company was on to something.  We helped them grow their idea into a product that enabled pharmaceutical giants to make more money.  Once Pharmetrics was established as the only private operator in a highly-prized field, it became a natural acquisition for IMS, the global leader in pharmaceutical market intelligence.” Marko Maschek, Partner, Waltham, MA
