Annual General Meeting and appointment of non-executive Director
At the Annual General Meeting of 3i Group plc at 10:30am this morning, Baroness Hogg, Chairman of 3i, commented that:
"Through our sixty years in business we have a strong record of engagement with a wide range of interested parties. We constantly aim to improve the transparency of our business and in our annual report have increased disclosure on our most significant investments; our key performance indicators; our approach to corporate social responsibility; the way in which carried interest works; and a number of other areas. We are delighted that this has been recognised."
The Annual General Meeting will be followed by an Extraordinary General Meeting where a resolution will be put to shareholders relating to the proposed £807 million return of capital.
3i Group plc also announced that it had decided today to appoint Mr Willem Mesdag as a non-executive Director of the Company with effect from this afternoon.
Willem Mesdag is currently the Managing Partner of Red Mountain Capital Partners LLC. He was until 2001 a Partner and Managing Director of Goldman, Sachs & Co., having worked in the USA, the UK and Germany and having co-founded Goldman Sachs Capital Markets Group in 1982, its Asset Securitization Group in 1986 and its European Financial Institutions Group in 1989.
Baroness Hogg, Chairman, said:
"Will brings a wide and highly relevant range of experience to 3i as it internationalises its business. We are delighted that he has agreed to join the Board."
In relation to Willem Mesdag's appointment, there are no other matters to disclose in accordance with paragraph 9.6.13R of the FSA's Listing Rules.
