Our people

John joined 3i in 1996 and moved to Singapore in 2000. John focuses predominantly on growth capital investments and buyouts. He most recently led 3i’s investment into Franklin Offshore, a rapidly growing service provider to the offshore and marine industries - 3i’s third Oil and Gas related investment in the region. In November 2006, he was part of the deal team that led a $620 million capital raising for Asia Capital Re, the first Pan-Asia Re-insurance start-up. In 2005 he was part of the deal team that made 3i’s maiden investment in India, Nimbus, and has been on the deal teams for a number of our subsequent India investments, namely Mundra and Sonalika Groups’ International Tractors and International Cars and Motors. He has extensive buyout experience, including Tamdown Construction, Software Stationery Holdings, Sunpage Direct Mail and Inbis.

Prior to joining 3i John spent seven years with Coats Viyella plc and has a strong consumer sector background. He holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Physiology from the University of Glasgow.
