3i opened its office in Brazil in 2011. Based in São Paulo we will build on the Group’s existing private equity business and support our market entry into Latin America.

It enhances our ability to provide current portfolio companies with access to Latin America through a presence on the ground.  3i Group’s extensive network, reputation and sector knowledge will add considerable value to the team in Brazil. 

We work with entrepreneurs and great management teams in established businesses to help them deliver high growth, operational improvements and exceptional value.   Through our sector insight, we add value to the companies we partner at strategic and operational levels.  We use our international network and contacts to provide a depth of market and industry insight and knowledge that is essential for business expansion.  In addition we introduce businesses to experienced industrialists and expert advisers, who offer access to the latest industry and market perspectives and help to identify new strategies for success. 

We will be looking to partner with high quality mid-size Brazilian companies that are benefitting from the growing middle class in Brazil and would like to be supported by a global partner to reach a different scale, nationally or internationally.

Our investment team in Brazil includes 4 investment professionals, operating from our office in São Paulo.

Led by Marcelo Di Lorenzo, the team will look to invest between $30m and $100m per deal in businesses with an enterprise value of up to $200m for minority or majority stakes.  The main focus will be on businesses in the consumer and business services sectors.
