Since 2005, 3i has invested in the following sectors in India: Media, Automotives, Construction, Power, Ports and Manufacturing, amongst others. We currently manage an investment portfolio valued at c. US$920m.

In April 2007, 3i signed a strategic partnership with the India Infrastructure Finance Company Limited (“IIFCL”) to invest in Indian Infrastructure. In April 2008, 3i closed a non-listed US$1.2 billion India Infrastructure fund and, together with funds, 3i has invested over $505 million in Indian infrastructure to date.

Mundra Ports was 3i’s first investment in India to go public in Mumbai in November 2007. 3i is also an investor in an Indian real estate fund.

As a large-scale, listed private equity company, we deploy our own capital. This gives us the flexibility to create the best financing structure for each of the businesses that we support.

For buyouts, we seek to take controlling positions in businesses with an enterprise value of up to and around €500m, working with management teams to build significant value.

We focus on the following sectors in India: Industrials & Energy, Business & Financial Services, TMT, Consumer, Manufacturing and Healthcare.

For infrastructure investments in India, we manage and advise funds investing in power, ports, airports and road projects and early-stage and mature infrastructure operations.
