Economic development and high-growth means that as a region South East Asia presents many exciting investment opportunities for 3i. We have had a presence in Singapore since 1997 and use this as a hub to cover the region.
We have partnered with a number of well known entrepreneurs in companies such as Asia Capital Re, LHi Technology, Pearl Energy, Salamander Energy, Franklin Offshore International and Asia Renal Care.
From our offices in Singapore we are currently expanding our operations throughout the South East Asia region and are particularly interested to invest in high-growth companies operating in the consumer, healthcare, insurance and oil & gas sectors.
Being part of 3i enables us to deliver the benefits of 3i’s scale, international reach and sector expertise to high-growth companies in the region as well as to support our portfolio companies around the world in developing their businesses in South East Asia.
For growth capital investments in South East Asia, we acquire minority stakes in established and profitable businesses, typically for an investment of US$20-150m.
As with all other regions, by investing in our network, our people and our knowledge base we aim to see the best investment opportunities in South East Asia. By working with entrepreneurs and their advisors, we then create innovative financial solutions to enable them to grow. Having invested we aim to support our portfolio companies in achieving their full potential and to deliver outstanding investment returns in the process.
For buyouts, we seek to take controlling positions in businesses with an enterprise value of up to and around €500m, working with management teams to build significant value.
