3i, Europe's leading private equity company, has appointed Machtelt Groothuis as Director within its European Buyout Business.  Machtelt will join the Amsterdam office and focus on mid-market buyouts across the Benelux.

Machtelt joins from Taros Capital Holdings, previously the Alpinvest Partners Buyout Team.  During the past five years, Machtelt led the evaluation and execution of a number of transactions, including the delisting of Delft Instruments N.V. and the sale of Euromate B.V.

Machtelt, who has an MBA from Insead in Fontainebleau, has extensive experience of deal execution and portfolio management.  She has served as a supervisory board member of Raet B.V. and Euromate B.V.  Prior to Alpinvest, Machtelt worked at McKinsey & Company, where she advised clients in the media and telecommunications sectors.

Menno Antal, Managing Director 3i Benelux commented:  "Machtelt will be a valuable asset to 3i.  We have recently enjoyed significant momentum in the Benelux market and Machtelt is the right person, given her experience and personality, to further strengthen the team."
