Refresco Gerber is the leading European bottler of soft drinks and fruit juices for retailers and branded players with production in the Benelux, France, Germany, Iberia, Italy, the UK, Poland and Finland. The company produces circa 6 billion litres of soft drinks and generates revenues of circa EUR 2 billion. Refresco Gerber offers an extensive range of product and packaging combinations from 100% fruit juices to carbonated soft drinks and mineral waters in carton, PET, Aseptic PET, cans, pouches and glass.
Refresco Gerber is headquartered in Rotterdam, the Netherlands and employs circa 4,700 staff.
In 2013, Refresco and Gerber merged to become Refresco-Gerber creating a compelling industry proposition for retail and branded customers.
We invested €84m for a 20% stake in Refresco in March 2010, with the capital fully committed to realise further growth. This is the second time that we have invested in Refresco, having supported a management buyout in 2003. After a period of active management, geographic expansion and significant profitable growth for the company, we generated an excellent return on our investment when we sold our shareholding in April 2006.
In 2013, Refresco and Gerber Emig merged to become Refresco Gerber. The combination creates a compelling industry proposition for retail and branded customers who will benefit from greater scale, a seamless service across geographies and access to a broader portfolio of soft drinks and fruit juices in more markets.
The combined business will be well positioned to meet customers’ continuously changing needs and requirements. And, as one company, Refresco Gerber will have greater opportunities to invest in innovation, to achieve growth and to optimise the business.
We have the full backing of the existing shareholders and management and intend to use our experience in the consumer sector – specifically the food and drink industry – to support Refresco Gerber in reaching its full potential.
