Mathieu joined 3i in 1999 and he is now a director. He started his career in 1997 at Arthur Andersen in the Paris Corporate recovery team, where he specialised in corporate restructurings and in business turnarounds.
At 3i, Mathieu first specialised in portfolio management, with a particular focus on under performing assets and exit processes. Key deals that he has been involved in include ECM, a manufacturer of heat treatment furnaces (sold to Astorg), CMI, a manufacturer of mobile homes (sold to Axa Private Equity), and Oldham, a manufacturer of gas detectors, which was sold to Industrial Scientific. Mathieu also contributed to the execution of several French deal including Fabricauto, MSC, Transports Alloin, Le Nouy, Consultim, World Freight Company, Loxam). As well as serving on the boards of several 3i investments (Consultim, World Freight Company, Loxam), Mathieu is an active member in the Association of former students of HEC Entrepreneurs.
Mathieu is a graduate of HEC Business School in Paris and during his third year, he attended the course for HEC Entrepreneurs.
