Biography

Mike joined 3i in 2000, and following a spell in the Cambridge office he joined the Oil, Gas and Power team in 2004.

Before joining 3i, Mike was a drilling engineer for Shell in Europe and Africa, where he was part of the operations team for execution of a deepwater exploration programme, working both onshore and offshore. Following his time at Shell he did an MBA at Insead in France and a summer internship at strategy consultants Booz Allen and Hamilton in the Energy and Chemicals Practice.

Mike served on the board of Salamander Energy, a SE Asia focused independent oil and gas company, and Energy Development Partners, a developer of North Sea reserves. Other investments include Venture Production, a North Sea production company, RXT, an on-bottom 4C seismic acquisition company, Delta Hydrocarbons, an international developer of mature and underdeveloped reserves, and Insensys, a provider of fibre optic sensing solutions to the oil and gas, wind energy and civil engineering markets.

Mike is a Chartered Engineer, a member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers, and a Sainsbury Management Fellow. He has a MEng degree in Manufacturing Engineering from the University of Cambridge, and an MBA from INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France.
