Biography
Simon, who joined 3i in February 2005, is Group Finance Director and serves on the board of 3i Group plc. Simon is a member of both the Management Committee and the Investment Committee, and is responsible for providing financial management and strategic direction at Group level.
In addition to his Finance role, he oversees Communications (including PR & Investor Relations), Taxation, Treasury, Information Technology, Property Services and the SMI team.
He began his career at Price Waterhouse and, after qualifying as a Chartered Accountant, worked with Dresdner Kleinwort Benson, Robert Fleming Group and Chase Manhattan in senior finance and operational roles. Simon then assisted in the formation of Intelligent Energy, a UK fuel cell development and energy solutions business, before being appointed as Director General, Finance for HM Government at the Department of Constitutional Affairs.
Simon is a non-executive director of Cable and Wireless plc, a member of the ICAEW (ACA), an Associate Member of the Securities Institute, and a Fellow of the RSA. He gained a BSc 1st class in Economics at University College, London.
