Biography
Stephen Hill joined 3i in December 2006. He was CEO of The Sporting Exchange (trading as Betfair) from 2003-2005, having spent the previous year as a CEO in residence at Permira Advisers (London) Limited. From 1998-2002 he was CEO of the Financial Times Group and a member of the Pearson Management Board. He joined the Pearson Group in 1987 holding a number of roles including director of strategy for Pearson, MD of two regional newspapers, as well as CEO of Westminster Press. In 1996 he was appointed CEO of the Financial Times newspaper. He began his career as a management consultant with the Boston Consulting group. He holds a Law degree from Cambridge University and attended the Program for Management Development at Harvard Business School. He is also a director of Channel Four, and a former non-executive director of Royal & Sun Alliance plc and Psion plc.
