November 2008
AES wins CIMA award for corporate responsibility.
At the CIMA Financial Managment Awards, 3i backed AES Engineering won the award for CSR. AES was cited as a fantastic example of a business making a significant contribution to its local community and the wider environment, with the vision to become a CSR role model.
In this category, the judges were particularly looking for demonstrable links between CSR activity and organisational, operational, financial and/or strategic decision making. Rotherham-based business, AES, has gone out of its way to meet the highest quality standards and ensure that these standards are fully integrated into its management philosophy, systems and the decision making process. In so doing, the company has reduced its carbon footprint by 75%.
The company's CEO is the principal architect and driver behind the firm’s wetlands wildlife sanctuary project which is located at the company’s headquarters. This has the dual role of diverting water during flash flooding and providing a sanctuary for wildlife. The company has also introduced new concepts such as using living ‘green’ roofs to support biodiversity, help filter air pollutants and improve insulation.
November 2007
3i backed AES Engineering won Company of the Year at the UK's 2007 Growing Business Awards, which are backed by the CBI and Real Deals.
AES was nominated in advance of the event, for the category 'Company of the Year', and the judges were looking for a truly outstanding business.
In their words:
"Simple, really. We're looking for an outstanding business whose growth, ambition and quality of management has enabled it to out-perform its peers financially and has delivered on a compelling business strategy."
The judges were looking for a company that had, in its past full financial year:
- Out-performed its peers in sales and profits growth
- Created new, quality jobs
- Developed and trained its people
- Delivered on an innovative and compelling business strategy
- Launched, or successfully developed, its range of products and services.
We'd like to add our congratulations to the team at AES for their outstanding success.
