Nature of Business
Angel Springs is the third largest chilled drinking water supplier in the UK. The business focuses on both bottled water coolers and mains fed coolers and has a reputation for delivering high-quality customer service based on a local distribution and service team model. This allows the team to get to know their customers, ensure prompt deliveries and accurate invoicing.
Investment Overview
Angel Springs was formed in December 2003 when we backed an MBI/MBO team to acquire and integrate three small owner-managed businesses in the sector.
The three companies integrated were: SPA Springwater in Halifax, Angel Springs based in Wolverhampton and Chiltern Hills based in Hertfordshire. The amalgamation of these three companies provided the new group with national coverage and experienced management and staff.
Since then, with our support, Angel has invested heavily in new Integrated Systems, Fleet and Human Resources to ensure that the business can provide the highest quality of Service in the market place and appointed an experienced Chairman, Bernard Cook, to the board.
3i also supported a number of small in-fill acquisitions and grew market share through its widely recognised premium quality of customer service and support, while remaining competitive on price.
In July 2011, we exited the business after almost 8 years of ownership.
