A leader in the generics market, betapharm, founded in 1993, was the fourth largest generics company in Germany with approximately 4% market share. Located in Ausburg, Germany, betapharm marketed high-quality generic drugs focusing on long-term therapy products with high prescription rates.
3i acquired betapharm in 2004 and the company was successfully sold to India's Dr Reddy's in 2006 in a deal worth €480m.
