Joh. Heinr. Bornemann GmbH was founded in 1853 and has been a manufacturer of pumps since then. For the past two decades, Bornemann has focused its product development on the oil and gas industry and established itself as the leading innovator of pumps in this segment, most recently through its research on subsea oil & gas production technology. In 1996, with the introduction of the world's first multiphase system for mainly upstream applications, Bornemann rapidly established itself as the preeminent provider of multiphase technology and today claims to have a worldwide market share of 70% with more than 400 installations worldwide. In 1997, 3i acquired a 40% stake through a capital increase to support the future growth of the Company. Since then, Bornemann has grown from € 34 million in sales in 2000 to € 66 million in 2005, a compound annual growth rate of more than 14%.
