Founded in 2002, Cambridge Semiconductor (CamSemi) is the emerging leader in power management ICs to enable low cost, more energy-efficient AC:DC offline power conversion.
The company’s unique products and approach can help manufacturers develop smaller, more energy-efficient products to meet Energy Star and related worldwide standards, while cutting their design timescales and system costs. CamSemi operates globally from its Cambridge (UK) headquarters; has recently opened an Asia region sales and application design centre in Taipei and works with a network of specialist distributors.
CamSemi’s first controller products target the replacement of linear power converters in price-sensitive, high-volume consumer applications. Typical products include power supplies for printers, audio systems, cordless phones and wireless hubs/routers. These unique parts were launched in October 07 to offer size, efficiency and no-load consumption benefits of more expensive switched-mode approaches but at low cost.
Circuits are also simpler, with low levels of EMI and have additional safety and protection features integrated on-chip.
All products are based on the company’s portfolio of patented, proprietary technologies which includes intelligent control architectures and PowerBraneTM which enables monolithic integration of controllers and power devices.
