Chorion owns and develops some of the world’s best loved literary and entertainmentbrands, generating revenue from royalties across a range of activities, including publishing, toy merchandising and television programmes.

The business operates on a global basis. Its portfolio includes well recognised classic children’s brands, such as the Mr Men, Noddy, Famous Five and other Enid Blyton
characters, OLIVIA, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and the works of crime writers such as Agatha Christie (Miss Marple and Poirot) and Georges Simenon (Maigret).

In November 2007, Chorion acquired The Copyrights Group, a licensing and merchandising agency which represents the owners’ rights for characters such as The World of Beatrix Potter, Paddington Bear and The Snowman.

Chorion’s business model is based around the acquisition and development of underexploited brands. With a focus on the key attractions of each character or brand, the
business exploits the intellectual property rights of the brands across a wide spectrum of media, followed by development of the properties on a worldwide scale through
licensing arrangements.

The business is developing new television programming for all of its recently acquired characters, as well as exploring opportunities in new media distribution channels. The global and long lasting appeal of Chorion’s properties, together with the management team’s proven track record of success, provides a solid footing for the business going forward.

The global rights ownership market in children’s and crime characters is very fragmented, with many properties still owned by second or third generation descendants of the
original author. The business will therefore consider selective acquisitions as a potential source of future growth.
