Nature of Business
Continuum is the leading UK private provider of acute residential care and education services for looked after children. It operates around 72 care homes and 12 schools throughout mainland UK. Its customers are UK local authorities which turn to Continuum when they lack either the capacity or skills to look after a particular child in their own group care home facilities.
The depth of experience within the group means Continuum has a vast selection of resources, infrastructure and staff which can be utilised across the regions whilst retaining invaluable links and knowledge in each locality. The group offers a wide range of services for young people with diverse needs between the ages of 10 and 18 including: solo and group care, bespoke education services, clinical intervention and fostering.
Investment Overview
3i invested in two businesses in the Care Services sector in 2004 - Greeen Corns in February 2004 and Farrow House in December 2004. The Continuum group was then formed through the merger in 2006 of these two businesses and two other recognised regional providers – Herts Care and Cambrian Care.
The merger of these companies was driven by an aim to share best practice, innovative services and respected personnel across each of the regions.
Through our extensive experience in the Healthcare sector, we have been focusing on growing the business, extending the service range and continuous improvement in the quality of service to the local authorities and care of individual children.
