Nature of Business
Grupo Daorje is a significant player in the Spanish waste management and industrial services. The waste management division provides services to both the public and private sectors, including the collection, management and transportation of waste, and the management of landfills and recycling plants.
The industrial services division provides installation services for industrial equipment, such as pipelines, machinery and scaffolding. In addition, it provides cleaning, operation and maintenance services for industrial clients, including machinery maintenance, waste management and the subcontracting of plant operations.
Grupo Daorje has a strong presence in the North and North West of Spain (Asturias and Galicia).
Investment Overview
3i bought a majority stake in Grupo Daorje in September 2007, backing the management team in a sector that showed real potential for organic growth and consolidation.
Despite a slowdown in the growth of this sector over the last three years, we have worked closely with management on a strategic business review and as a result the company renewed and significantly extended a key contract for the Industrial maintainance business with Arcelor which will maintain momentum. The Waste Maintainance sector is now also showing much improved growth and there are various business opportunities open to Daorje which our Spanish team are reviewing with management.
Through our industrial network in Spain we have assisted with strengthening the management of the company.
