Drawing on highly-specialised 3i Group resources, our local teams can provide financial experience, sector knowledge and company management practice, together with a unique network of international contacts.

3i Nordic has offices in Copenhagen and Stockholm working closely with the wider 3i Nordic and international team in Growth Capital and Buyouts.

After several successful years the Nordic portfolio includes Damcos Holding A/S, Boxer, Carema, Carmel Pharma, Coor Service Management, NordNav and Ålö.

We have a Nordic investment team of 11 professionals operating from our offices of Copenhagen and Stockholm.

Tomas Ekman is the Managing Director of the Nordic region and Partner of 3i.

He leads the investment teams, together with partners Mattias Eklund, Steffen Thomsen and Fredrik Karlsson.

We have strong sector expertise in a wide range of sectors. We work closely with our 3i colleagues across the world to ensure that in each investment situation we put together the “right team for the job”, drawing on the experience and knowledge of our extensive network of professionals.

We target opportunities as follows:

• Buyouts
  Our Buyouts Team seeks to invest alongside management in Nordic businesses with an enterprise value of up to and around €500m.
• Growth Capital
  Our Growth Capital business is the world’s leading dedicated growth investor. We invest in privately-owned, high growth, profitable international businesses across Europe, Asia and North America.  Typically we invest up to €150m in businesses with an enterprise value of up to and around €500m, taking a non-controlling minority stake. Once we have invested, we are committed to working in partnership to help our investee companies build exceptional businesses.

In most cases we invest from our own balance sheet, so we are flexible, committed and patient investors.  For each investment, we let the exit strategy evolve in line with the company’s needs.
