Electrawinds was established in 1998 by Luc and Paul Desender. Since then it has invested €100m in renewable energy projects, making it the leading independent renewable energy company in Belgium.

The company’s main focus is on developing, owning and operating renewable energy generation assets.

To date, the company has delivered eight major projects. These include biofuel-to-energy installations in Ostend, Moscroun and Bruges which, at the time, was the largest wind farm in Belgium. In total, Electrawinds now has over 60MW of installed capacity in wind and biomass energy, and is providing green electricity to thousands of households.
