Element Materials Technology (formerly Stork Materials Technology) is a global network of laboratories with experts specializing in materials testing, product qualification testing and failure analysis for the Aerospace & Defense, Oil & Gas, Power Generation, and Transportation sectors. Element’s 30,000 customers are served by over 1000 engineers and scientists who staff 10 laboratories in Europe and 19 in the United States.
Investment Overview
3i’s investment in Element brings access to 3i’s global network and additional resources to support strategic acquisitions, to continue the existing operational improvement programs, and to strengthen its market position through organic growth.
In December 2011, Element completed its first acquisition under 3i’s ownership of the Detroit Testing Laboratory (DTL) group. A leading provider of testing services to the aerospace and automotive industries, the DTL acquisition added 4 laboratories to the Element group.
In February 2012, Element also completed the acquisition of Cincinnati based MAR-TEST, Inc., an independent mechanical testing laboratory recognized as one of the premier fatigue testing facilities in the world servicing the aerospace and defense, power generation and medical sectors.
