Enterprise maintains essential assets working in partnership with its customers in the UK utility industry and the public sector. The company assists its customers to achieve the least cost for delivery and to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction.
The company has 40 years of industry experience and is supported by almost 13,000 direct and indirect staff and employees across 150 UK sites. The company works with large organisations such as United Utilities, National Grid, Scottish Power, Liverpool and Westminster City Councils, EON, Northern Gas Networks and the Ministry of Defence.
Investment Overview
3i led the buyout of Enterprise plc in May 2007 in a public-to-private transaction.
The investment strategy focuses on re-weighting the business towards public sector clients, driving operational improvement and executing succession in the business to ensure that the company has a management team capable of doing justice to its growth opportunities.
Shortly after completion of the original investment, 3i supported the acquisition of Accord, which added significant public sector revenues and enabled Enterprise to achieve a step-change in growth.
The business has continued to evolve its own internal structure to become increasingly market and customer facing with significant investment going into business development, bid management and IT. The management succession agenda has progressed with senior appointments made to strengthen the board and the executive team.
