Esmalglass-Itaca Group is one of five worldwide producers of frits, glazes and stains for the ceramic tile industry.

Esmalglass was founded in 1978 and has grown organically, establishing production centres in Spain, China and Brazil and transformation units in Portugal, UK, Italy, Mexico and Indonesia. It sells its products in almost every country in the world.

In 1999, Esmalglass acquired 60% of Itaca – the world leading supplier of colours and pigments for the porcelain market, with a global market share of around 60%.
Esmalglass's objective in acquiring this stake was to gain exposure to the growing porcelain market and add colours to its armoury of speciality chemicals for the ceramics market. In 2004, Esmalglass acquired the remaining 40% and now trades as Esmalglass-Itaca Group.

Esmalglass-Itaca’s strategy is to be the world leading supplier of glazes and colours for high-end suppliers of tiles in the ceramic and porcelain industries.
