Since we opened our office in Paris in 1983, 3i has been a pioneer in the French private equity industry.
We have invested our capital into around 400 French companies at all stages of development, from start-ups to long-established enterprises.
We work with companies to deliver profitable growth and exceptional value using our deep understanding of local markets, deal experience, broad-based sector expertise and unparalleled resources and international network. In addition, we introduce businesses to experienced industrialists and expert advisers, who offer perspectives and insight on the latest industry trends and help identify new strategies for success and value growth.
Our French investment team includes 14 investment professionals, operating from offices in Paris.
The team is led by Guy Zarzavatdjian and includes partners Rémi Carnimolla, Denis Ribon and Olivier Le Gall. The French team works as one with 3i’s wider network across Europe, Asia and the US, so that we put together the ‘right team for the job’ for each investment opportunity we assess. Because we mainly invest from our own balance sheet, we are flexible and committed investors.
The French team is experienced in a wide range of sectors, including Business & Financial Services, Consumer, Industrials & Energy, Healthcare and Technology, Médias & Telecoms.

We acquire majority stake in established, mid-cap companies that have outstanding management teams and excellent prospects for growth. Often we are helping existing management teams to acquire the business they work for, enabling the spin-out of a non-core division from a multinational corporation or supporting preparations for an IPO. - Growth Capital
Our Growth Capital business is the world’s leading dedicated growth investor. We invest in privately-owned, high growth, profitable international businesses across Europe, Asia and North America. Typically we invest up to €150m in businesses with an enterprise value of up to and around €500m, taking a non-controlling minority stake. Once we have invested, we are committed to working in partnership to help our investee companies build exceptional businesses.
