IntelliDx, based in Santa Clara, California, is developing a device to measure blood glucose levels in hospital patients. 3i co-led the recent $21.5m Series D round alongside HLM Venture Partners. Studies have shown that close monitoring of blood glucose can reduce mortality rates in intensive care patients. Today, the practice of taking finger-stick measurements is both time consuming for nurses and inconvenient for patients. IntelliDx's device will automate the process to take blood glucose readings and provide a frequent read-out for physicians both freeing up valuable nurse time and improving healthcare economics and importantly, patient outcomes.
