Founded in 1994 as a spin-off of the Medical Faculty (Charite) of Humboldt University Berlin Jerini has emerged from a platform company into a drug discovery and development company. Based on its proprietary drug discovery array and medchem platforms SPOT™, pepSTAR™ and pepMED™ the company focuses on systematic peptide-based drug discovery.

Peptides are a so far underestimated class of drugable molecules that combine the positive properties of small molecule and antibody/protein therapeutics.

Jerini has developed a unique proprietary drug discovery platform that allows the ulta-fast identification of peptide lead molecules for any protein target and their subsequent systematic transformation into drug-like structures. This is achieved by a combination of a novel peptide micro-array platform for lead identification and a tailor-made medicinal chemistry platform for subsequent peptide transformation.

Jerini is first mover in this field of activities and plans to develop into a fully integrated biopharmaceutical company bringing its own drugs to the market.
