Lekolar is the leading supplier of educational and learning material, furniture, toys, stationery and arts & crafts to pre-schools and secondary schools in the Nordic region and employs around 250 people.
Investment Overview
3i led the buyout of Lekolar in February 2007, backing an ongoing buy-and-build strategy across the Nordic region. In addition we identified potential for international growth, operational improvements by consolidating supply chain activities, building Far-Eastern sourcing and significantly upgrading operational KPIs to drive preformance and cash generation.
We have also worked actively to harmonise Lekolar's assortment and upgrade pricing and sales force capabilities.
Lekolar's management team has been significantly upgraded with a new CEO, new Supply Chain Director, Marketing Manager and several new country heads as well as a new purchasing office in Shanghai.
