Navayuga Engineering Company Limited (Navayuga) is a leading player in the infrastructure construction industry and specialises in undertaking multi-disciplinary EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) contracts in ports, irrigation, power, roads and bridges.
It has embarked on an ambitious expansion plan through investments in BOTs (build-operate-transfer projects) in specific areas such as ports and roads.
Navayuga is 85% owned by Mr. C V Rao and his family, with a strong professional team averaging over 25 years of work experience.
Investment Overview
We invested $44.4m in Navayuga Engineering Company Limited in November 2006. We were providing development capital for the business to continue its growth in BOTs and the contracting business.
During our investment, we have leveraged our European network to introduce Navayuga to FCC, a major Spanish construction company, initially to explore partnership opportunities. We have also worked in conjunction with the 3i Infrastructure team to explore possible future partnership opportunities in 3i infrastructure investments.
Further to this, our local team have worked closely with Navayuga’s management to professionalise the business by introducing better reporting and financial systems and MIS processes.
