SIRO Clinpharm is a leading full service Clinical Research Organization (CRO) that specialises in providing solutions to the twin challenges of speed and cost in clinical drug development. SIRO has been a pioneer in the development of alternative geographies for conducting clinical trials, providing world class facilities, expertise and unexplored patient pools. SIRO now services clients in North America, Europe and Japan.
SIRO was established in 1996, a time when global clinical trials in India were few and far between and for more than a decade now the business has pioneered the growth of the clinical trial industry in India across all aspects of clinical development. Siro has been rated as the best Indian CRO several times.
Investment Overview
3i invested in SIRO Clinpharm in May 2007, taking a significant minority stake. The SIRO team was aware of 3i’s track record within the Healthcare Sector and our success in introducing German pharma company, Betapharm to an Indian buyer. Since our investment, we have worked closely with the SIRO’s management team to support their ambition to become a global player in the clinical trials market.
By leveraging our healthcare network, we helped SIRO enter the European market with a German acquisition in May 2008 and SIRO has since set up offices in the US and Israel and, in Europe, in Germany, Romania, Estonia, Greece, Czech Republic, Spain, Russia and France.
In addition, in late 2009, SIRO formed significant alliances with CambReg UK, a European Regulatory services provider, and French company, Mediscis, an Early Phase specialist CRO and world class logistics company which will support SIRO’s Clinical Trials Supplies business.
