Alongside our strong focus on international investment, our home country remains a vital part of our operations.  During our latest financial year, we invested €610m in UK companies.  On 31 March 2006, our UK portfolio had a value of €2.9bn.

We invest in British companies at all funding stages, from start-up and early-stage investments through rapidly-expanding family businesses to mid-market buyouts.  Our team of more than 100 UK investors is based in four locations:

• In Aberdeen, we have a centre of excellence focused on the oil, gas and power industry.

• In Manchester, our Growth Capital and Buyouts businesses partner established northern enterprises.

• Our London office is our largest UK site, working with a wide range of businesses at all stages of funding.

Our London office is also 3i Group’s Head Office and the base for several teams that provide pan-European expertise.  Through interacting regularly with colleagues across Europe, Asia and the US, our UK investors draw on a wealth of international expertise and contacts, which they use to help UK businesses access fresh techniques, form strategic partnerships and enter new markets.
