This drives continuous evolution of business and distribution models and enables progressive, forward-looking companies to open up new revenue and value opportunities. 3i’s TMT team primarily invests in the technology and media sectors and, selectively, in niches of the telecoms sector. Within the technology sector, we focus on software and services across a selective range of end-market verticals and intellectual property-driven service companies. We look for opportunities to participate in industry consolidation and enable traditional software businesses to evolve into balanced software and services players that provide their customers with valuable IT-enabled solutions.

We invest across the media sector, with a particular focus on business models that centre around the ownership and exploitation of high quality content or information. In an environment of accelerating structural change in the media sector driven principally by the internet, we also look for businesses which have the ability to take advantage of new operating models. Within telecoms, we invest in infrastructure services and converged information, communications and telecommunications solutions businesses. As a FTSE 100 company with over 60  years’ experience of working in close partnership with ambitious managers and entrepreneurs, we bring a wealth of sector experience enabling us to proactively contribute to strategic business decisions.
