3i recently hosted a dinner at Palace Street to discuss “Value creation with a focus on international growth”, an issue at the strategic heart of many of the UK’s top businesses.
In today’s environment, companies are facing unprecedented challenges not only in their domestic markets but also from developing economies. But this international dimension also creates exciting opportunities - whether to benefit from lower cost environments, diversify risk or access high growth markets. 3i is playing an important role in partnering with companies who aim to succeed on an international basis. Indeed, 3i’s ability to create value in its portfolio companies, through Active Partnership, has always been underpinned by the differentiated scale of its international resources, knowledge and networks.
It was our pleasure to welcome Alan Parker CBE and Bob Stefanowski as our special guests for the evening.
Alan shared some experiences from his time as CEO of Whitbread Group plc – particularly around the very successful international expansion of Costa Coffee – and discussed his views on what makes the difference between success and failure on an international stage.
3i has had a great deal of success in helping our portfolio companies achieve their international ambitions. As Chairman and Managing Partner for 3i North America and Asia, Bob Stefanowski was ideally placed to reflect on this, and shared his ambitions for 3i around the world. Alan Giddins, Managing Partner for 3i UK Private Equity chaired the evening.
We were delighted to welcome a high calibre guest list of corporate contacts, including our Business Leaders Network and current portfolio.
