Biography
Abelardo joined 3i in 2000 after completing his MBA at IESE. He has worked for 3i in both Barcelona and Madrid. He started his career at Axel Group, a corporate finance boutique in Madrid. In 1996, he joined Arthur D. Little as a management consultant, where he participated in the key milestones of the liberalisation of the telecommunications sector in the Iberian Peninsula. Abelardo has led or participated in four deals, including buyouts and growth capital transactions in Spain and Portugal. He specialises in the healthcare sector and is part of 3i Healthcare sector team. Key deals that he has been involved include Fractus, an antenna technology developer in Barcelona, Gesinar (Real Estate services) Hospor Hospitals in Portugal, Sampletest (Iberian leading clinical analysis laboratories chain), Clinica Baviera (chain of ophtalmology clinics in Spain) and Ultralase (cahin of ophtalmology clinics in UK) . He has served on the boards of seven companies during his time at 3i.Abelardo has an MBA from IESE and degrees in law and economics from ICADE.
