We’ve been helping businesses deliver ambitious growth for more than 60 years. During the past ten years alone, we’ve invested more than $7bn in growth funding and helped over 150 companies IPO on 15 stock exchanges worldwide.
Examples of our recent Growth Capital investments and realizations:
- Fulcrum is a leading global fund administrator for the hedge fund and alternative investment management industry. Led by experienced professionals, Fulcrum is committed to quality information, technology, and processes. 3i’s investment will help Fulcrum accelerate revenue growth and expand internationally.
- Focus Media was the first mover in the digital segment media sector in China and has established extensive national distribution channels throughout the country: FM operates over 10,000 LCD-TV units in over 7,000 buildings in 30 cities. For example, FM has already penetrated 80% of top office buildings in Shanghai, 70% in Beijing, and 60% in Guangdong. Shanghai, Beijing, and Guangdong account for the largest share of China's advertising expenditure with 16%, 13%, and 14% respectively.
- Petrofac was seeking transformational growth when we invested in 2002. Petrofac was a well-managed engineering, procurement and construction business but had ambitions to become an international, integrated facilities solutions provider. During our involvement we introduced valuable members to the Petrofac board and helped the company make two strategic acquisitions. By the time the business floated in 2005, it had achieved its ambitious evolution, developed a presence in 18 countries, and was valued at more than $1.3bn.
- Clinica Baviera, the Spanish chain of ophthalmology clinics, has ambitious plans to expand its business. When looking at how the business could implement its growth plans, the owners were looking for a partner that had a strong understanding of the healthcare sector, international connections, and an ability to provide several rounds of funding. Flexibility towards exit plans was also very important. Since investing $48m, we are helping the business evaluate potential acquisitions targets and to develop a strategy to extend its service offering. We are also improving the company structure and corporate governance procedures to assist with Clinica’s expansion plans.
