Private Equity

Our Private Equity business is focused on working with entrepreneurs and management teams to substantially enhance value by helping to make their companies the best they can be.

We invest in Buyout and Growth Capital opportunities through a number of funds. Our latest Buyout fund is our €5bn Eurofund V, raised in November 2006. Our €1.2bn Growth Capital fund was raised in March 2010.

For both Buyouts and Growth Capital, we are focused on the mid-market, investing in companies with an enterprize value of up to and around €500m across Europe, Asia and the Americas.

When financing Buyouts, 3i and funds managed by 3i, typically take a majority equity position and the capital is used both to purchase the company from its existing owners as well as to fund the business's development.

In making a Growth Capital investment, we typically invest for a minority equity position in a company to support its continued growth and development.
