Mold-Masters is a world-leading manufacturer of plastics melt delivery and control systems. Its core products are hot runners and temperature control systems. A hot runner is a highly technical process control system that manages resin flow and delivery from an injection press into a mold cavity. Hot runners reflect a relatively small investment for end-users, while providing significant value by minimizing both manufacturing cycle time and materials waste.
Founded in 1963, the company has a proven track record of innovation, setting industry standards and developing a differentiated product portfolio of customized solutions. Today, Mold-Masters has approximately 900 patents pending and received and has the largest R&D budget in the hot runner industry.
The Company serves a diverse, global customer base across high growth end markets including consumer electronics, medical devices, telecommunications, packaging, personal care consumer products and automotive, with manufacturing facilities in Brazil, Canada, China, Germany and India, and sales offices all over the world.
Investment Overview
3i invested in Mold-Masters in August 2007. By partnering with us, Mold-Masters’ founders and management saw the opportunity to better position the company by capitalizing on its global growth opportunities.
Our investment has accelerated organic growth in Asia, Eastern Europe and Latin America, and several add-on acquisitions have been made expanding the company's geographical reach and product line. We have leveraged our global Business Leaders Network to strengthen the management team with the introduction of Hamdi Conger, a proven industrialist, as Chairman, and have bolstered the executive team with several key additions.
We have also helped to improve sales force effectiveness, implemented operational efficiencies, enhanced internal project management capabilities and upgraded financial management and controls.
