Investment Overview
3i made a significant minority investment in the recapitalisation of Quintiles in January 2008, investing alongside Bain Capital, TPG and Quintiles CEO Dennis Gillings. Quintiles chose to partner with us due to our strong track-record in the healthcare sector and our unparalleled international network.
To assist in Quintiles’ continued growth, we has tapped into our extensive global healthcare network, which includes longstanding relationships with major pharmaceutical and biotech firms. As a result, we have introduced Quintiles to prospective healthcare customers across Europe and the US.
We have recently introduced a member of our global network as head of the recently formed EMEA Advisory Board. We have supported the Company’s plans to further expand into Asia and assisted with the spin-off of the non-core NovaQuest entity and strengthening key positions within the management team.
3i's global head of Healthcare, Denis Ribon of France, sits on the Quintiles Board, and is supported closely by Richard Relyea of New York.
