Piotr Doniec

Piotr joined 3i in 2017 and is a Director in the Private Equity team based in Frankfurt. He was a deal team member on 3i’s investments in Luqom Group, the largest European online specialist in the lighting space, and Formel D, a global service provider to the automotive and component supply industry. He currently sits on the board of Formel D.

Prior to joining 3i, Piotr gained work experience as a Consultant with McKinsey and in investment banking at Deutsche Bank. 

Piotr holds a Masters degree in Finance from HEC Paris and a Bachelors degree in Economics from the University of St. Gallen.

Antoine Giroux

Antoine Giroux joined 3i in 2022 as a member of its European Private Equity team based in Paris and specialises in Services and Software investments. He currently serves on the board of Constellation, an IT managed services provider specialised in hybrid cloud and cybersecurity. 

Before 3i, he spent three years at LFPI Gestion, supporting a number of investments and involved in managing several portfolio companies. He began his career in investment banking at J.P. Morgan in London and New York within the Industrial and Consumer & Retail coverage teams. He holds a Masters in Management from HEC Paris.

Anjali Gupta

Anjali joined 3i in 2007 from ICICI Bank where she was part of the project finance group, heading the Transportation sub-group. She brings 25 years of experience having worked in the areas of project financing, debt and equity syndication, restructuring and investment banking in her prior assignments at ICICI Bank, Asset Reconstruction Company (India) Ltd., KPMG and SBI Capital Markets.

She holds an MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and a Bachelors Degree in Science from Gujarat University.

Ulf von Haacke

Ulf joined 3i Germany in 2001 a partner in the Frankfurt office. Ulf has worked on a number of Private Equity transactions at 3i. His most recent deals include xSuite, MAIT, Formel D and Weener Plastics, where he also sits on the board. He has also led the successful exits of ATESTEO, GEKA and HILITE International. 

Ulf studied Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Aachen (RWTH), where he also received a PhD. He holds a degree in Business Administration from the University Hagen.

Nathaniel Haloua

Nathaniel joined 3i in 2022 as a member of its European Private Equity team and is based in Paris. He focuses on the origination and execution of investments in the Services sector. He is a deal team member of Evernex and was also involved in the acquisition of Constellation. 

Before 3i, Nathaniel worked at L.E.K. Consulting, on engagements spanning commercial and vendor due diligence, growth strategy and operational projects. Before that, Nathaniel also worked in Private Equity at PSP investments and in M&A at Société Générale. 

Nathaniel holds a Master of Science in Management from HEC Paris.

Jacob Hedenquist

Jacob joined 3i in 2023 as a member of its North America Private Equity team based in New York. He is involved in 3i's investments in arrivia and WilsonHCG. 

Prior to joining 3i, Jacob worked as an Investment Banking Analyst in the Global Industrials Group at Citigroup, where he focused on M&A advisory and capital raising transactions. 

Jacob graduated summa cum laude from the University of Georgia with a B.B.A. in Finance and a certificate in Entrepreneurship.

Nicolas Hinse

Nicolas is an Associate Director in the Benelux Private Equity team. He is a deal team member of European Bakery Group and Yanga.

Prior to joining 3i in 2022, Nicolas was an investor at TowerBrook Capital Partners, focused on the Benelux region as well as Consumer, Retail and Food across Europe. Prior to TowerBrook, he started his career in the Leveraged Finance and Benelux M&A teams of J.P. Morgan in London.

Nicolas holds a BSc in Economics and a BSc in Fiscal Economics from the University of Amsterdam, and an MSc in Finance from the Duisenberg School of Finance.

Joseph Hirshorn

Joseph joined 3i in 2023 as a member of its North American Private Equity team based in New York.

Prior to joining 3i, Joseph was an Investment Banking Analyst with Solomon Partners in the Grocery, Pharmacy and Restaurants Group, where he focussed on M&A advisory and capital raising transactions.

Joseph graduated summa cum laude from Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame with a B.B.A. in Business Analytics. He was the recipient of the 2021 Hamilton Award for the highest cumulative grade point average in the department of IT, Analytics, and Operations.

Rupert Howard

Rupert is a Partner based in London. He co-heads the UK PE team, leads the consumer team and sits on the board of MPM.

Rupert joined 3i in 2018 prior to which he was a Director in the Consumer, Retail and Leisure team at Rothschild in London. He brings 12 years’ experience advising both public and private companies on transactions across the UK and Europe.

Rupert graduated with a BA from Durham University.

Sophia Walwyn-James

ESG & Sustainability Director

Sophia is ESG & Sustainability Director within 3i’s Private Equity business, with responsibility for leading the consideration of ESG matters through the investment lifecycle, defining the team’s ESG strategy, and providing support to portfolio companies across Europe and North America. Sophia is also a member of the 3i Group ESG Committee. Sophia holds a certificate in Business Sustainability Management from the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (“CISL”), and is a member of the Invest Europe Human Rights Working Group

Sophia previously spent 11 years in 3i’s Fund Investor Relations team, having joined 3i in 2011. She holds an honours degree in History from the University of Durham.

Robert Jones

Robert joined 3i in 2020 as a member of its North American Private Equity team based in New York. Robert focuses on Tech-Enabled Services and Software and has been involved in 3i’s investments in WilsonHCG and arrivia. 

Prior to joining 3i, Robert worked as a Vice President at Bridge Growth Partners, where he invested in the technology and tech-enabled services sectors. Robert was also previously an Analyst at J.P. Morgan in the Financial Institutions investment banking group. 

Robert graduated with distinction from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, earning a BS in Business Administration from the Kenan-Flagler Business School along with a History minor from the College of Arts & Sciences.

Pieter de Jong

Pieter joined 3i in 2004. He was Managing Director of 3i Benelux and was co-Head Private Equity and a member of the Executive Committee from 2019 to 2024. He is based in Amsterdam. He was a key member of the deal teams involved in Yanga, Mepal, European Bakery Group, Royal Sanders, Basic-Fit, Weener Plastics, Lampenwelt, Refresco and Action. He currently sits on the Boards of Yanga, Mepal, European Bakery Group, Royal Sanders and Weener Plastics. 

Pieter has more than 35 years’ experience in corporate finance, management and operations. He started his career at Stork in the US, before joining Van Den Boom Groep, a corporate finance consulting firm in Benelux, where he became partner responsible for M&A. After selling the company to NIBC, Pieter headed its M&A department. 

Pieter has an MBA degree from Georgia State University (USA) and a BBA degree from Nijenrode University (Netherlands).

Boris Kawohl

Boris is a Partner based in Amsterdam. He joined 3i in 2005 and has been involved in various deals including Action, Basic-Fit, Hans Anders (now nexeye), BoConcept, Eyes + More, Konges Slojd, Royal Sanders, Refresco and VakantieDiscounter. 

He is currently a Board Member at Action, BoConcept, Konges Slojd, and VakantieDiscounter. Prior to 3i, Boris worked in the M&A department of ABN AMRO and at Nederlandse Gasunie.

Charlie Kickham

Charlie is an Associate Director in the UK Private Equity team.

Charlie has been involved in a number of 3i investments, including Sussex-based Aspen Pumps, Digital Barriers, a leading provider of IoVT surveillance and security products and Audley Travel, the leading provider of tailor-made travel. Charlie is currently a board member of Audley Travel.

Prior to joining 3i in 2019, Charlie worked in the Industrial group at Evercore, advising clients on M&A and restructurings.

Charlie graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a degree in Economics.

Hannah Kim

Hannah joined 3i in 2022 as a member of its North American Private Equity team based in New York. She is involved in 3i’s investment in Q Holding and ten23 Health. 

Prior to 3i, Hannah was an Investment Banking Analyst in the Media & Communications Group at Citigroup, where she focused on M&A advisory and capital raising transactions. 

Hannah has her B.S. in Business Administration and a Certificate in Entrepreneurship & Technology from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.
