3i backed Calendra acquired by BMC Software for 33m
3i, Ventech, Spef Venture, I-source Gestion and Elaia Partners to sell Calendra the «Identity & Access Management» solution provider to BMC Software
Paris, France, Calendra, the leading provider of directory centric, business-oriented, web-based identity management solutions is to be acquired by BMC Software, Inc., [NYSE: BMC], a leading provider of enterprise management solutions.
Founded in 1997 in the South of France, Calendra has been supported by several investment funds. The Company was first seeded by I-Source Gestion, followed by Spef Venture and Ventech in 2000. In 2001, 3i led a significant investment round to help the company develop its sales internationally. Elaia Partners joined as a shareholder in 2004.
Calendra has grown rapidly, benefiting from the continual development of its solutions and a successful international expansion. By 2001, Calendra had a pan-European presence, and used the funds raised to expand its operations in the US.
From its US headquarters in Pennington, NJ, Calendra established a successful partnership with BMC Software. This acquisition announced today enables BMC Software to deliver an integrated suite of Identity Management solutions that include enterprise directories (white pages and yellow pages), workflow, PBX management, and directory management. The combined solution removes the complexities customers traditionally encounter when integrating various technologies from multiple vendors.
Under the terms of the agreement, BMC software will acquire 100% of Calendra shares for approximately $33m in cash.
"We are very pleased to see the cooperation between Calendra and BMC progressing to a positive and logical point", declared Jean-David Chamboredon, Director and 3i board member of Calendra.
"This acquisition is a positive move for Calendra and its customers," said Alain Pechon, CEO, Calendra. "In addition to extending our offerings to a larger customer base, this provides our customers with the opportunity to expand their Identity Management offerings for a more complete, integrated solution."
