3i hires three Private Equity Investment Professionals
3i is pleased to announce it has appointed three investment professionals to its Private Equity business across Europe and North America:
- Christoph Rinnert has joined the Frankfurt team, as a Senior Associate, from Rothschild where he was an Associate in their M&A team. He also brings experience from PwC’s Advisory Transactions & Strategy Technology team where he was a Senior Consultant t
- Michael Bernard joined 3i’s New York investment team as an Associate from Morgan Stanley where he was a member of the Healthcare group.
- Rutger Vos has joined the Benelux team in Amsterdam as an Associate. Prior to joining 3i, Rutger worked in J.P. Morgan’s Benelux M&A team in London.
These appointments follow a successful 2014 for 3i’s Private Equity business, which invested €0.5 billion and generated realisation proceeds of €1.2 billion, on behalf of 3i and funds managed by 3i, during the year.
These investments included Dynatect, a US headquartered leading manufacturer of engineered, mission critical protective equipment; Q Holding, a US headquartered leading global manufacturer of highly engineered, precision moulded rubber and silicone components; and Christ, a German headquartered jewellery retailer.
In addition, 3i completed 25 bolt-on acquisitions across 11 of its portfolio companies during the year.
3i also took advantage of market conditions to selectively realise and refinance a number of portfolio businesses including the 2.3x sale of Hilite, the German headquartered automotive supplier, to AVIC; the 2.1x sale of Vedici, a leader in private acute care in France, to CVC; and the €840m refinancing of Action, the international non-food discount retailer headquartered in the Netherlands.
