Head of Legal

Alastair is Head of Legal for 3i's Private Equity team, with responsibility for legal risk management and the provision of legal support for new investments, portfolio matters, exits and fundraising activities to 3i's international Private Equity business.
Alastair joined 3i in 1998 from a London law firm where he worked as an Associate specialising in international corporate M&A and private equity. He holds a BA joint honours degree in Economics & Law from Durham University and is qualified as a Solicitor in England & Wales. Alastair is also vice chair of the BVCA Legal Committee.

Chris is a Director in 3i's Infrastructure team in London with a focus on origination, execution and asset management of investments in Europe.
Prior to joining 3i, Chris worked in transaction services at PwC where he focused on providing post-deal support to private equity backed businesses. He previously led the European corporate finance team at a large European real estate developer and construction business.
Chris holds a BSc in Accounting & Statistics, and is a Chartered Accountant.

Group Investor Relations and Sustainability Strategy Director

Silvia is responsible for 3i’s programme of relations with public market investors and analysts and for a number of the Group’s key sustainability activities, as well as sustainability reporting and communications. She is a member of the Group Risk and ESG committees.
Before joining 3i in 2007, Silvia worked at Finsbury, the financial communications consultancy, for nearly two years, and in Citi’s Equity Capital Markets division for seven years.
Silvia has a BSc(Econ) in Government and an MSc(Econ) in European Politics and Policy from the London School of Economics.

David is Strategy Director for 3i’s Infrastructure team and joined in 2021. He is responsible for the planning and implementation of key strategic and operational initiatives as well as the development of growth and fund activities, including those related to ESG.
Prior to joining 3i, David was part of PwC's Deals team in London and New York providing buy-side, sell-side, and value creation support to investors and management teams.
David is a CFA charterholder and has a degree in Finance and Economics from The College of New Jersey.

Tim joined 3i in 2007, where his focus is on the origination, execution and debt financing of infrastructure investments.
His transaction experience includes Attero, Belfast City Airport, East Surrey Pipelines, Elenia, ESVAGT, Infinis, Oystercatcher, Scandlines, Tampnet, TCR and WIG.
Prior to joining 3i, he was at RBC Capital Markets, having started his career in the European financial restructuring group at Houlihan Lokey.
Tim has an MA and an MPhil in Economics from St John's College, Cambridge.

Managing Partner, Co-Head of European Infrastructure

Bernardo became Managing Partner, Co-Head of European Infrastructure alongside Scott Moseley in July 2022 and is a member of 3i Group's Executive and Investment Committees. Bernardo joined 3i in 2015 as a Partner with responsibility for origination and execution of new investments across Europe, principally economic infrastructure businesses.
Bernardo has 18 years of infrastructure investment experience and was most recently a Partner at Antin Infrastructure which manages funds investing in infrastructure opportunities across Europe.
Prior to Antin, Bernardo was Managing Director, Head of Acquisitions for Deutsche Bank’s European infrastructure fund. His prior experience was in utilities, as Head of M&A at Energias de Portugal, and in infrastructure advisory with UBS and Citigroup.
Bernardo holds an economics degree from the Nova School of Business and Economics in Lisbon, Portugal.

David is a Partner based in London and is co-head of the UK Private Equity team, leading its efforts in the Industrial and broader Technology sectors.
David has worked on a number of 3i investments, including its acquisition of London-based Digital Barriers, a leading provider of IoVT surveillance and security products; Sussex-based Aspen Pumps, the global market leader in condensate removal pumps; Oxfordshire-based Audley Travel, the leading provider of tailor-made travel; Ohio-based Q Holding, manufacturer of precision moulded rubber and silicone components for the auto and medical industries; and Wisconsin-headquartered Dynatect Manufacturing, Inc, manufacturer of critical components to protect and elongate equipment lifetimes and promote worker safety.
David currently sits on the boards of Audley Travel and Digital Barriers.
Prior to joining 3i, David worked in investment banking at DC Advisory Partners, advising clients on European mid-market M&A.

Jim is a lawyer with over twenty-five years’ experience in infrastructure and private equity investments and funds. He has worked in 3i’s Infrastructure Team since 2007 and heads a legal team with responsibilities for legal risk management, legal and regulatory aspects of new investment, portfolio management, fund structuring, and equity and debt raising by 3i and its fund clients.
Jim joined 3i in 1998, initially working with the UK investment business and subsequently for the wider 3i corporate group.
Jim qualified as a solicitor and worked at international private equity and M&A law firm Ashurst from 1993 to 1998.

Senior Associate

Rohith is a Senior Associate in the Banking team within 3i Private Equity. He has worked on financing transactions for a number fo 3i's portfolio companies, including: Action, European Bakery Group, Konges Sløjd, nexeye, SaniSure, Wilson HCG and xSuite.
Prior to joining 3i in 2022, Rohith spent over seven years at NatWest Bank working across a range of teams. He spent most of his time in Leveraged Finance, working on European mid-market and large-cap buyouts and financings across all sectors.
Rohith holds a BSc in Biology with Business Management from Imperial College, London.

Jamie joined 3i in 2017. He is focused on originating and executing Private Equity investments across a range of industry sectors, primarily within the UK.
Prior to joining 3i, Jamie was an Investment Manager at Duke Street, where he focused on the services and healthcare sectors. Prior to that, he worked in the investment banking team at Hawkpoint Partners in London advising on public and private transactions across a variety of sectors.
Jamie holds a BA in Economics from Durham University.

James is an Associate Director in the UK Private Equity team. He focuses on originating and executing Private Equity investments across a range of industry sectors within the UK and observes the Board for 3i's investment in Scandlines.
Prior to joining 3i in 2016, James worked as a consultant at Roland Berger and Deloitte where he focussed on aerospace, advanced materials and other industrial opportunities.
James holds a MEng in Materials Science from the University of Oxford.

Active Partnership Practice Director

Jo Thomson leads the Active Partnership team. Her core responsibilities include the sharing of best practice across our investors as well as our portfolio companies. This incorporates the delivery of key events such as the CEO and Chair Forums, developing Active Partnership related training, creating visibility of advisor performance on Active Partnership initiatives as well as working on key business priorities, for example digitisation, sustainability and D,E&I.
Jo is also responsible for the marketing and internal communications for the Private Equity business.
Prior to joining 3i, Jo worked at EY in their Global Private Equity team.

Oscar joined 3i in 2013 and was appointed Partner in July 2023. He is responsible for the origination, execution and asset management of infrastructure investments. His transaction experience includes ESVAGT, East Surrey Pipelines, Infinis, Alkane Energy, Elenia and Tampnet. He is currently on the boards of Tampnet and ESVAGT.
Prior to joining 3i, Oscar worked in the investment banking department of Macquarie, with a focus on power and utilities.
Oscar holds a MSc in Economics from Uppsala University.

Yaad is a Director in 3i’s Infrastructure team in London and joined 3i in November 2014. He is primarily responsible for the origination and execution of deals and the management of assets in the infrastructure sector.
Prior to joining 3i, Yaad worked in the Corporate Finance division of Ernst & Young. Yaad is a chartered accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland and holds a BSc in mathematics from Bristol University.

Felicity is an Associate Director in 3i’s Infrastructure team in London and joined in September 2022. Her primary focus is on debt financing arrangements for the investments across 3i Infrastructure’s portfolio.
Prior to joining 3i, Felicity worked in the energy and infrastructure team at Clifford Chance in London, during which time she advised clients in relation to a range of financing structures and instruments in the sector.
Felicity is a qualified solicitor and holds a MA in History from The University of Edinburgh.

Phil joined 3i in 2007 and is Vice Chair of 3i’s Infrastructure business and a member of 3i’s Investment Committee. From 2014 to 2022 he was Managing Partner, Head of Infrastructure.
Prior to joining 3i, he was Division Director in Macquarie’s Infrastructure Funds business, where he managed investments in the transport sector. Phil has over 20 years of infrastructure investment, advisory and finance experience from earlier roles at Barclays and WestLB.
Phil has an MBA from London Business School.
