    Alec joined 3i in 2015, based in 3i's North American Private Equity team. Alec focuses primarily on the Business & Technology Services sector and has been involved with 3i's investments in Audley Travel and Dynatect Manufacturing, Inc.

    Prior to 3i, Alec worked as an Associate Consultant at Bain & Company where he worked in the private equity group and for corporate clients in the business services, consumer products and telecommunications sectors. His work included commercial due-diligence, growth strategy, post-merger integration, performance improvement and supply-chain restructuring.

    Alec graduated as a Robertson Scholar from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Duke University, where he earned a BS in Business Administration and BA in Economics.  Alec sits on the board of the National Tay-Sachs & Allied Diseases Association (NTSAD).

    Rudi Schembri joined 3i’s Banking Team in June 2015 and since worked on banking for several acquisitions or portfolio companies including Action, ATESTEO, Formel D, GEKA, Hans Anders, Lampenwelt, Ponroy, Scandlines and Schlemmer.

    Before joining 3i Private Equity, Rudi spent 4 years in Deutsche Bank’s Leveraged Debt Capital Markets Team, where he worked across both the term loan and high yield bond products. Prior to this, Rudi spent 5 years at UBS in the Leveraged Finance Team and the UK Investment Banking Team. In addition, Rudi worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers’ consulting services for 1 year.

    Rudi holds an MSc Accounting and Finance from the London School of Economics and is a Certified Public Accountant. He also holds a Bachelor of Accountancy (Honours) and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Malta, both with first class honours.

    Sebastian is an Associate Director in 3i's Infrastructure team in London and joined in July 2017. He is primarily responsible for the strategic asset management of portfolio companies in the UK and continental Europe. In this role, Sebastian works closely with management teams on strategy and performance improvement initiatives. He is also involved in the evaluation and execution of deals, with a particular focus on the energy and utility sectors.

    Sebastian brings 10 years’ experience in energy and utilities, most recently from National Grid where he was a member of the Group & UK/EU Strategy team, and prior to that from Roland Berger, where he was a core member of the European Energy & Utilities team.

    Sebastian holds an MBA from INSEAD, a MSc in Business Management from ESCP Europe and an engineering degree from Technical University Berlin.

    Timothy joined 3i in 2007, where his primary focus is on the origination, execution and debt financing of infrastructure investments.

    His transaction experience includes Infinis, East Surrey Pipelines, Belfast City Airport, TCR, ESVAGT, Oystercatcher and Scandlines.

    Prior to joining 3i, he was at RBC Capital Markets, having started his career in the European financial restructuring group at Houlihan Lokey.

    Timothy has an MA and an MPhil in Economics from St John's College, Cambridge.

    Bernardo is a Partner in 3i’s Infrastructure team in London and joined 3i in October 2015, and with Scott leads the team’s new investment origination and execution platform.

    He was a senior deal team member on the recent investments by 3i Infrastructure in TCR, Infinis, Attero and Alkane Energy.

    Bernardo was most recently a Partner at Antin Infrastructure, which manages funds investing in infrastructure opportunities across Europe.

    Prior to Antin, Bernardo was Managing Director, Head of Acquisitions for Deutsche Bank’s European infrastructure fund. His prior experience was in utilities, as Head of M&A at Energias de Portugal, and in infrastructure advisory with UBS and Citigroup.

    Bernardo holds a board position at TCR.

    Michael joined 3i in 2015 and is an Associate Director in the German Private Equity team. He was part of the deal team for the investments in Lampenwelt, an online retailer of lighting products, and in Schlemmer, an automotive supplier, where he is currently a Board member.

    Prior to joining 3i, Michael worked at Warburg Pincus in Frankfurt and London, where he was involved in a number of private equity investments in Germany and Europe. Previously, he worked in the Transaction Advisory Services division of Ernst & Young and in consulting with Deloitte Consulting.

    Michael holds a Master degree in Economics from Maastricht University in the Netherlands.

    David focuses on originating, executing and representing 3i on the Boards of Private Equity investments across Europe. He predominantly focuses on 3i's activities in the Industrial sector in the UK, but has also spent significant time on deal execution in the US.

    Recent deals David has worked on include 3i’s investments in Sussex-based Aspen Pumps, the global market leader in condensate removal pumps; Oxfordshire-based Audley Travel, the leading provider of tailor-made travel; Ohio-based Q Holding, manufacturer of precision moulded rubber and silicone components for the auto and medical industries; and Wisconsin-headquartered Dynatect Manufacturing, Inc, manufacturer of critical components designed to protect and elongate equipment lifetime and promote worker safety.

    David also supported the sale of London-based Civica, the international provider of specialist IT systems and business process services, and was previously a Director on the Board of ESG before recently completing its disposal to Socotec.

    Prior to joining 3i, David worked in investment banking at DC Advisory Partners, advising clients on European mid-market M&A.

    Jim is a solicitor with almost twenty years’ experience in infrastructure and private equity investment and funds. He has worked as senior counsel in 3i’s Infrastructure Team since 2007, with responsibilities for legal risk management, legal and regulatory aspects of new investment, portfolio management, fund structuring, and equity and debt raising by 3i and its fund clients. Jim joined 3i in 1998, initially working with the UK investment business and subsequently for the wider 3i corporate group.

    Jim qualified as a solicitor and worked at international private equity and M&A law firm Ashurst from 1993 to 1998.

    Prior to joining 3i, Jamie was an Investment Manager at Duke Street, where he focused on the healthcare and services sectors. Prior to that, he worked in the investment banking team at Hawkpoint Partners in London advising on public and private transactions across a variety of sectors.

    Jamie holds a BA in Economics from Durham University.

    Nicola Tassell is Senior Counsel for 3i's Private Equity and India Infrastructure team, with responsibility for legal risk management and the provision of legal support for new investments, portfolio matters, exits and fundraising activities for 3i's international private equity and India Infrastructure business.

    Nicola joined 3i in 2004 from the law firm, Clifford Chance LLP, where she worked as an Associate specialising in international corporate M&A and private equity. She holds a LLB honours degree in English and Spanish Law from Kent University and is qualified as a Solicitor in England & Wales.

    Jo joined 3i in 2010 and leads the Active Partnership team. Jo is responsible for the delivery of our value creation and operational improvement model by our investment team.

    Her responsibilities include the delivery of key events such as the CEO and Chairman Forums, organising Active Partnership related training and creating visibility of advisor performance on Active Partnership initiatives. She is also responsible for the marketing and internal communications for the Private Equity business. She has a particular interest in and focus on the development of our approach to digitisation.

    Prior to joining 3i, Jo worked at EY for 14 years, initially in their Transaction Advisory Services group and then as Operations Director for their Global Private Equity team. She started her career at BDO.

    Jo has a degree in Economics from the University of Manchester.

    John joined 3i in 1996 and moved to Singapore in 2000 where he is a Partner. John is responsible for 3i’s South East Asia Private Equity business.

    He led 3i’s investments in Franklin Offshore, a rapidly growing service provider to the offshore and marine industries, and was part of the team that led a capital raising for Asia Capital Re, the first pan-Asia re-insurance start-up. In 2007, he led the Buyout of LHi, a Medtech company based in China that manufactures and supplies medical leads and harnesses globally.

    John has been on the deal teams for a number of 3i’s Indian investments including BVG. He currently sits on the boards of ACR Capital Holdings, LHi and John Hardy.

    Prior to joining 3i, John spent seven years at Coats Viyella plc. He has a BSc (Hons) degree in Physiology from the University of Glasgow.

    He joined 3i in 2005 as a Partner and is based in 3i's Benelux office. He has been involved in, amongst others, Action, Hans Anders, BoConcept, Basic-Fit, Euro-Diesel, Amor, ABX Logistics, Azelis, Aviapartner, Hyva, Ponroy, Christ and VNU Media. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Action, Euro-Diesel, Hans Anders and Ponroy.

    Prior to joining 3i, Robert was a Partner at Permira and before that Robert worked in private equity related finance areas at Salomon Smith Barney (now Citigroup) in London, Citibank in London and Chase Manhattan Bank (now JP Morgan) in New York.

    He holds an MBA from the University of Chicago, a degree in Business Administration for the University of Louvain (Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium), and a Law degree from the University of Louvain (Leuven, Belgium).
